GUESTS EXPERIENCES

They walked in like most do—smiling, talking, glowing with that Friday night kind of energy. A group of young Japanese guests. Curious eyes. Confident air. The kind that usually lean into today’s chart-toppers, the pop hits dressed in glitter.

So naturally, I started there. The arrangements were polished, tasteful, alive—just enough sparkle, never too loud. My band and I always carry elegance in every note.

But something shifted.

Between songs, I watched them. They weren’t just sipping—they were listening. Really listening. Their eyes didn’t search the room for the next distraction… they stayed with us. So after the set, I approached them gently and asked: “Would you like us to stay in this vibe, or explore something deeper?”

And one of them smiled and said:

“Could you keep going with Ella Fitzgerald? Maybe some Etta James too?”

My heart nearly melted.

These young guests wanted the greats. The velvet phrasing of Ella. The raw honesty of Etta. The real stuff. It gave me hope—maybe this generation is reconnecting to music with soul. Maybe artists like Laufey and Cyrille Aimée are leading them back to the gold.

The next night, same bar. Different audience. Different energy.

The room was buzzing, ready to move. We turned the tempo up, rearranged pop with fire and finesse, set the night ablaze. By the end, the whole place was glowing.

Afterward, a gentleman came up to me and said something I won’t forget:

“Last night, you gave us nostalgia. Tonight, you set this place on fire—with so much taste. I don’t know how you do it… but it felt perfect both times.”

I smiled and said what I always believe: “It’s all about audience reading.”

Every room has a rhythm. Every night holds its own mood. And live music—when it's alive—isn’t just about sound. It’s about sensing the energy, shaping the atmosphere, and honoring the moment.

That’s what we aim for, every single show. Not just performance, but presence.

Because when you really listen to the room… ✨ The room listens back.
